Last weekend, my friend and I decided to explore this very inviting restaurant in Boutik Mall at Reem Island in Abu Dhabi.
I had passed by it, dined in the cafe next to it and even had a tour of it when it newly opened but had never eaten there.
The unique name, the colour scheme and the ambience depicts contemporary Orient.
It was a beautiful day, and we decided to lunch outside the restaurant’s comfortable al-fresco seating.
After much debate, we chose the Satay Nuea, the beef strip skewers with peanut sauce, as a starter and then hopped onto the main course. We ordered the Gaeng Kiew Warn, which is the Thai green curry along with steamed Jasmine rice. Since we were indulging in some Thai food, we had to order the Pad Thai noodles. We asked the food to be medium spicy as I am not a fan of a lot of spice.
My favourite part of any menu is the colourful mocktails section, and as usual, I took time in deciding which combination to go for. To end the confusion I picked the most vibrantly coloured drink in the menu named The Purple Haze.
I enjoyed the sweet taste of the mocktail but ended up leaving the bubble gum flavoured sago pearls at the end. It was a smooth blend of coconut cream, blue lagoon and grenadine mix.
We liked the satay and the peanut sauce complemented it well.
We relished the green curry more than the Pad Thai as it was a bit too sweet for our taste.
I seldom leave a restaurant without trying a dessert! Hence, we ordered the passion fruit sorbet and banana ice cream as desserts. The tangy passion fruit sorbet felt very refreshing, and I made sure I finish the banana ice cream.
We had to wait for the desserts and bill quite a bit even though the restaurant wasn’t as busy, due to it being a weekday.
Overall, I felt it’s a good hangout with a competitively priced menu and big serving size, for friends who have the taste buds for some quality Asian food.
